Students worked to identify the parts of a circle: circumference, radius, diameter, chord. They built a human circle outside, ran around the circumference, and built 'chord cookies' inside, using icing to mark the parts. Outdoor math and edible math -- popular activities!
Another Aha! Moment: students could photo-shop themselves into the American Revolution! Our gifted resource teacher climbed on board to help make it happen! After three sessions of photo-shopping, students responded to a writing prompt: create a journal entry written from the perspective of the person you've 'imaged' yourself into. Students then prepared a process page; lastly,
we mounted the photos with the writing, for hallway display. Kudos to all ages who helped bring this project to fruition! |
