Classroom teachers preassigned student partners.
We began our work by partners reading the rubric together
(the Buck Institute for Education's Creativity and Innovation Rubric
https://www.bie.org/object/document/k_2_creativity_innovation_rubric)
and making suggestions for how to tweak it.
After two building sessions, each child completed a revised rubric.
"Something I learned:"
- 99 student comments were learning statements about working with their partner, building lifelong learning skills as they got to know each other
- 53 comments were about the balloon construction
- I came into this project anticipating a maker project linked to an anchor text, and wanted a rubric to make sure everyone had equity of voice
- I came away from this project marveling at how the connection and collaboration between student partnerships dominated their rubric reflections.
